CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Driscoll Children's Hospital is kicking off its 28th annual Fiesta de Los Ninos celebration.
It’s a fundraising event that will benefit the congenital heart program to update aging equipment.
At a press conference today, Flint Hills resources presented a check for $60,000 to the hospital as the inaugural donation.
Organizers say 100 percent of the funds raised directly benefit the hospital.
“There's always improvements to technology and we really - to keep this to be a fabulous, world-class program, we need to upgrade equipment to the new specifications that are out there,” Driscoll Children’s Hospital executive vice president Dr. Mary Dale Peterson said.
The main event will happen on Jan. 24 at the American Bank Center.
Fiesta de Los Ninos will include a silent and live auction, barbecue dinner and entertainment by this year's headliner The Josh Abbott Band.
