PORTLAND, Texas — A special farewell parade was held at all Gregory Portland Independent School District campuses on Thursday.
The KRIS 6 News crew caught up with retiring Superintendent Dr. Paul Clore while he was at the East Cliff campus.
The festivities were all part of the day known as "Hats Off To Dr. Clore Day."
He announced his plans to retire last April.
The parade gave him a chance to visit each campus and say goodbye to students and staff.
His 46-year career as an educator has taken him all over Texas.
Dr. Clore has spent the last 19 and half years with G.P.I.S.D..
The retiring superintendent said, "It's been a great experience that's why I have stayed as long as I did."
Dr. Clore's last day with the district will be December 31.
He plans to stay in the area and volunteer when he can.
His replacement Dr. Michelle Cavazos has been in place since July.
