CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Democrat Eric Holguin has announced his candidacy for Texas State House for District 32.
He will challenge for the seat held by incumbent Todd Hunter (R-Corpus Christi) in the upcoming election.
House District 32 includes part of Nueces County -- 54% of Corpus Christi, including Flour Bluff & Padre Island, and the City of Port Aransas.
Holguin’s campaign is focused on finding real solutions to issues that affect the lives of coastal communities and starting a new chapter in the district with fresh representation that is for the people – not special interests.
“Texans aren’t asking for a lot,” Holguin said. “They aren’t asking for special privileges or perks. All they are asking is to have their elected officials stop acting like politicians and start acting on the issues that will help them get by.
“I believe in our community – I grew up in South Texas, and I want to see it succeed. That’s why I’m ready to focus on the issues that affect our daily lives – so we can all move forward together.”
A graduate of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Holguin comes from a South Texas working-class family of public servants: his father is a public school teacher and football coach, his mother is a nurse for veterans, his two brothers, both veterans, are Texas State Troopers, and his sister is studying Criminal Justice.
His late grandfather served as a Justice of the Peace in Jim Hogg County for more than 30 years
