Mobile home fire claims elderly woman's cats

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Flour Bluff woman is getting help from the American Red Cross after her mobile home was damaged heavily in a fire.

The flames erupted around 6:30 p.m. Monday night in the 200 block of Naval Air Station Drive.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire minutes after they arrived, however, the woman lost two cats in the blaze. Once was found alive and returned to the woman.

The homeowner was checked out by medics and is said to be okay.

At this time, there is no word on what may have started the fire.
