CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Today is Ash Wednesday and some local Episcopalian churches will be offering ashes to go.
That means you can receive ashes on your forehead without having to get out of your car.
The churches offer it as a service for those who may not have the time to attend a service today.
Clergy from the All Saints Episcopal Church will be dispensing "drive-thru" ashes until 6 p.m. tonight on Staples near Kostoryz.
And St. Bartholomew's is offering the service until 7 p.m. today, just across the street from the church on Airline and Belmeade.
At All Saints, several of those who used the service were happy utilizing the services.
"Being able to come through the drive through and get my ashes was very convenient to be able still get in to work on time and yet still fulfill my religious obligations," local teacher Teresa Garcia said.
The drive-through ashes continues until 6 p.m.
There's no word on how many people showed up, but one church employee told KRIS 6 News that they served a constant stream of vehicles since they began at 7 a.m. today.
