CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Driscoll Children's Hospital is showcasing its efforts to fight childhood cancer.

It's the number one cause of death from disease for children in the US.

KRIS 6 was invited Monday morning to tour the hospital's cancer and blood disorders center.

Each year, nearly 15,000 children are treated at the facility.

"Its one thing to deal with a diagnosis of cancer, the shock of that.” said pediatric cancer specialist Dr. Nkechi Mba , “The next thing is, 'Okay, how do I get my child the treatment that they need and they deserve to have their best chance?"

The center is a member of the National Children's Oncology Group.
