CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Corpus Christi family is hopeful their doorbell camera video of a thief stealing Christmas decorations from their front yard helps police make an arrest.
“It’s just really sad that someone is taking all of these decorations from everyone," Emily Noyola said. "(It's) like hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth."
Noyola estimates that the grinch who visited her home Monday morning got away with between $350 and $400 worth of inflatables, projectors, and extension cords.
"To get ripped off like that, it’s just really sad that someone would do that," she said.
Noyola planned to report the crime to Corpus Christi Police Monday night. A CCPD spokesperson says security cameras are your best weapons for fighting this type of crime.
They don't recommend confronting a thief should you catch them in the act.
“I always tell people, ‘Be a good witness," Lt. Michael Pena said. "Get a good description of the thief, maybe the vehicle description, and let us deal with that. I’d hate for someone to get injured or hurt over a Christmas decoration."
Noyola's video will give police an actual look at the thief who stole her Star Wars themed Christmas decorations.
In the spirit of the science-fiction movie franchise, she gave this description of her thief: “Definitely from The Dark Side. No light left in him I would say.”
