CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Police Department received a generous donation, which is going to help keep the community a bit safer.
On behalf of the Corpus Christi Police Foundation, the non-profit purchased four new bikes for the CCPD bike team.
The bikes were put into commission today making a total of ten bikes for the bike patrol that was established in 1992.
Each fully equipped bike costs $7,500 and was made possible through the CCPD Police Foundation and various other local community partners.
The bike unit focuses on community events in the downtown and uptown areas along the coast.
