CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A crash on South Padre Island Drive sent a few people to the hospital and shut down a section of SPID for over an hour.

The incident happened a little before 6 pm Saturday, August 10.

According to LT. Nicholas Kless, three vehicles were involved in the crash. One juvenile was ejected or flipped out of an open window. Right now, it's not looking fatal but she received some serious head injures.

Police are going to charge for not restraining a child, another driver will be charged for failing to yield the right of way.

"It would have been horrible if the child was ejected from the vehicle and went over the railing down to the highway down below," Kless said.

Officials don't think the child was strapped in.
