CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — A 19-year-old was transported to the hospital in serious condition after three vehicles crashed at an intersection.

The crash happened around 11:20 am Monday at the intersection of Northwest Boulevard and Farm Market Road 1889.

Officer Gary Williams, a senior officer with the Corpus Christi police department, said, "Two pick-up trucks collided at the intersection. A 19-year-old driver was transported with serious bodily injuries."

A silver Mitsubishi, being driven by a 35-year-old female, also was struck at the intersection. She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The other truck also involved in the crash was carrying a driver and a passenger. They were not hospitalized.

Officer Williams said it appears all the vehicles involved were trying to race the yellow light.

There are no citations at the time because the crash investigation is still ongoing.
