Corpus Christi man admits to sending child pornography

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Patrick announced Thursday that a Corpus Christi man has admitted to sending photos depicting the sexual exploitation of children under the age of 10.

The investigation was conducted by Corpus Christi Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Immigration and Custom’s Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations

28-year-old Daniel Ellsworth Janssen, was linked to an e-mail and IP address that was accessing child pornography, according to authorities. A search of Janssen's Corpus Christi residence revealed that he had images and videos that depicted the sexual exploitation of children under the age of 10 on multiple devices, and had distributed it using his cell phone.

Janssen faces 15 years in federal prison at the least, 40 at the most, and a possible $250,000 maximum fine.

U.S. District Judge David S. Morales will preside over his sentencing on Jan. 25 of next year.

Janssen was a registered sex offender during his time of arrest. He was convicted for attempted indecency with a child previously.
