CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The city of Corpus Christi will join other cities and Texas representatives to ask Governor Greg Abbott to stop a Texas windstorm rate hike.

This month, the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association approved a five-percent increase. However, opponents say the TWIA board approved the hike without it being on the agenda.

Representative Todd Hunter asked the Corpus Christi City Council to send a letter to Gov. Abbott requesting he stop the rate hike. The council said they would.

The TWIA increase is set to go into effect April 2021.
