CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Several north-side family members are without a home after a fire broke out in theirs on Wednesday afternoon.

The flames broke out just before 3 p.m. on Coke Street near Comanche behind Ben Garza Park.

According to the Corpus Christi Fire Department battalion chief Frank Solansky, when they arrived at the home, firefighters saw heavy smoke and noticed the outside of the home was on fire.

The flames spread to the attic and nearby rooms.

No serious injuries were reported. Everyone living inside the home was able to make it out.

Fire firefighters managed to also rescue a cat from the home after the fire was extinguished.

Volunteers with the Red Cross were called in to help out the family because fire investigators say the home is unlivable.
