The Del Mar College Board of Regents has decided who will fill the board's District 1 seat.
As we've reported, that seat was formerly held by Gabe Rivas, who died Aug. 5 from coronavirus complications.
Today, the college announced Rudy Garza Jr. will be filling the seat.
Garza is a Corpus Christi city councilman and a Corpus Christi native.
He’ll be sworn in on Oct. 13 and will serve the rest of Rivas’ term which runs through 2024.
