Community raising money for retiring officer with stage 4 cancer

INGLESIDE, Texas — The Ingleside Police Department and Volunteer Fire Department are raising funds for a retiring officer who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

During his 30 year career in law enforcement, Dave Scheurich worked with Gregory Police Department, Sinton Police Department, Aransas Pass Police Department, Ingleside Police Department, and San Patricio County Sheriff's Office.

Scheurich and his family need help with medical expenses. So members of the community have organized to provide assistance. There are a few ways to help the cause.

The Ingleside Volunteer Fire Department is selling stickers to raise money. You can text or call Miguel Muñoz at 361-534-9297 to purchase a sticker. They can also be purchased Tuesday evenings at Ingleside Volunteer Fire Department.

The stickers will also be available at a big fund-raising event at the Ingleside VFW located at 1452 State Highway 361 Ingleside, Texas 78362. The event takes place Oct 12 from 9 am to 2 pm. Their will be a rummage sale, silent auction, and bake sale you can donate items to. Pulled pork plates will also be available for purchase.
