CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — On Tuesday, the City Council will consider an ordinance designed to clean up one of the city's biggest homeless hot spots, Blucher Park.

That ordinance would seriously limit what people can bring into the park.

If passed, there would be no smoking or vaping. Eating will also be banned in Blucher Park.

The ordinance also prohibits blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, shopping carts, and several other items.

It's a moved designed to protect the park as a bird sanctuary.

But with only fines as penalties, will the ordinance really make a difference?

The ordinance also calls for the park to close at 8 p.m. instead of 10.

If it passes tomorrow, the ordinance will also need to pass a second reading before it can take effect.
