CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi city council members approved the purchase of some new street maintenance equipment.

The equipment includes a new motor grader, which is used to flatten surfaces during grading projects.

The existing motor grader is over 26-years-old.

There will also be two live bottom trailers, which are used to transport materials.

The two 26-yard trailers will replace two seven-yard dump trucks, allowing for more efficient and effective transportation of materials and increased hauling capacity.

In September, the City purchased five live bottom trailers, with the purchase of these two bringing the City’s total to seven.

The purchases will cost over $450,000 combined.

The money comes from the city's equipment replacement fund.
