CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — More than 100 families from Driscoll Middle School will receive a turkey for Thanksgiving.
It's thanks to a partnership between Communities in Schools and Church Unlimited Westside.
Driscoll Middle School was chosen because it has a high population of students who come from lower-income familes.
This is not the first time the partnership with the church has helped students at Driscoll.
“We know there are so many people in our community who are in need, and we just feel like it's a responsibility of ours -- a vision of ours -- to be able to serve those needs in our community," said Church Unlimited Westside’s Matthew Lemke.
Students will be given a voucher and can pick up their turkey at the Church Unlimited Westside location on Sunday.
The church also is giving out free vouchers to anyone who needs a turkey.
That's taking place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday at the Westside location, at 3701 Mueller, in the area of Leopard Street and Up River Road.
