CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — Christmas decorations are taking over Corpus Christi's Downtown area.
Crews are working on assembling the H-E-B Christmas Tree which is located in Water's Edge Park. Action 10 News was told it will take about two weeks to set up and decorate the tree.
This year the tree will have some new decorations.
Alyssa Mason, the Executive Director CC Downtown Management District, said, "So we, at the Downtown have been really intentional about bring forward a big installation this year, big decorations because it has been such a challenging year for our community. So it's really special to bring a gift life this to the community. We hope everyone enjoys it, and is able makes some memories and bring light to an otherwise challenging year."
Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb said, "I think after this year people are looking for the end of the year. But at the same time it does remind us we have a lot to be thankful for even though we have had some challenges. For Thanksgiving and going into Christmas."
This is the third H-E-B has provided the tree for the Downtown area.
The Christmas Tree is the highlight of the Annual Harbor Lights Festival which has been canceled due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
A virtual lighting ceremony for the H-E-B Christmas Tree will be November 27,2020.
The public is being encouraged to check out several other Christmas installations that are located across the downtown area.
The Christmas Tree will be up through January 6, 2021.
