CCPD spearheads multi-agency operation to arrest suspected gang members

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — Corpus Christi police department announced they were the tip of the spear in leading a multi-agency operation that lead to over several suspected gang members.

On October 31, 2019, the CCPD gang unit stated they apprehended several gang members and associates for engaging in organized criminal activity and robbery.

Last week, police arrested Ernesto Benavides,39, Francisco Jorge Natal O’Conner, 39, Joshua Lee Rivas, 28, Mark Anthony Caton, 38, Mark Cadena, 39, Nathan Nichols, 43, Romeo Trevino, 39, Mark Edward Mandel, 55, and a 17-year-old minor

Investigators said the charges are based on an assault and robbery involving a rival gang member at a local business.

Investigators said they are continuing to search for 51-year-old Manuel Hernandez. He is accused of engaging in organized criminal activity and robbery.

The investigation included Texas Department of Public Safety, Alice Police Department, U.S. Marshals, U.S. Customs & Border Protection, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
