CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Police Department officers are investigating what led up to a shooting between two neighbors on the city's North Side.

Police said an officer was flagged down by an Hispanic man in the 600 block of Scott Drive, near Villa and Petty Drive, after 9 p.m. Tuesday. The man told the officer he was involved in a shooting.

Police detained the man and found his neighbor, who was missing fingers on both of his hands.

They said they believe the man with the injured hand shot first, and that the man who flagged them down -- who also was armed -- returned fire, injuring the suspect.

Officers said the man with the injured hand was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

CCPD Lt. Jay Clement said the suspect in the hospital will be served a warrant after he gets out.
