CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi police say a young man was carjacked and left beaten in a drainage ditch early Tuesday morning.

The incident was reported in the 5700 block of Los Robles Drive near the intersection of Greenwood and Holly Road around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said a man living in Kingsville agreed to meet several people in Sinton. Once he picked them up, the suspects told the victim to drive near a ditch at Los Robles Drive. When they arrived, the suspects told the victim to walk down into the drainage ditch and assaulted the victim.

Officers said after the victim was assaulted, the suspects took the young man's phone, wallet and car keys. After interviewing the victim, police said the victim was set up.

The suspects have not been arrested. They added the suspects will face aggravated charges.

Police say the victim was in his late teens and the suspects are of similar in age. Investigators are looking for a 2012-2013 silver Honda Civic.

Officers implore to never provide a ride to strangers.
