Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales has contracted COVID-19.
A release from Nueces County officials Thursday states Canales traveled to Washington on county business, and experienced symptoms upon her return to the area on Wednesday.
She tested positive on Thursday morning.
The release also states that no county employees have been exposed, since Canales hasn't been in a county building since Friday.
She currently is working from home.
