CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The gym was filled with pink today at Adkins Middle School, all in support of Principal Norma Cullum who was diagnosed with breast cancer.
The booster club and girls athletics program raised more than $3,000 from t-shirt sales at their "Pink Out" games during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
"We were pretty excited that our school, staff and the community jumped in and helped out." Taryn Usher, Adkins girls athletic coordinator, said.
A ceremony was held to present the check today. It was presented to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Cullum's name.
"You know, she's our leader of the school and she treats everybody like they're part of her family," Usher said. "And so we felt like we could do a little bit more in her honor." Usher said.
