CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — U.S. Border Patrol agents announced it discovered more than 930 lbs. of marijuana this week alone.
The agency said in a release they discovered 200 lbs. of marijuana at the Falfurrias checkpoint Wednesday. Agents said they searched two cardboard boxes in the bed of a pickup and found multiple bundles of marijuana. The pot reportedly has an estimated street value of $158,000.
On Thursday, the agency said it saw several people carrying bundles of marijuana near Fronton, a city near Rio Grande City in the Valley. Border Patrol agents said the suspected smugglers left the product behind and fled into Mexico when they saw agents. Agents seized six packages of marijuana weighing over 400 lbs., reportedly worth an estimated $337,000.
The agency also said it seized over 330 lbs. of marijuana in another case within the last two days. That haul reportedly is worth an estimated $265,000.
Border Patrol is processing the cases accordingly.
