Bond set, shooting victim identified in case near west side theater

A $1 million bond has been set for the man accused of shooting and killing 62-year-old Robert Serrata near a westside movie theater.

According to police, 55-year old Marcus Villarreal shot Serrata on Silverberry Drive near the AMC Corpus Christi 16 theater yesterday morning. Villarreal told police at the scene he shot Serrata because Serrata attacked him, according to official documents.

When officers arrived, they found the man shot and Villarreal still at the scene.

The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

Police are investigating a shooting that took place Thursday morning near the AMC Corpus Christi 16 Theater.

Villarreal was charged with murder and remains in the Nueces County Jail on a $1million bond.

His case has been assigned to the 117th District Court.
