CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The cold weather conditions have hit the Coastal Bend Blood Center hard, leaving them with a huge shortage.
Ashley Ramirez, who is a spokesperson for the non-profit group, said, "To be honest we need all blood types right now, we need whole blood, platelets, plasma and convalescent plasma right now, which is from recovered covid-19 patients who can donate the convalescent plasma which is actually goes to those who are battling covid-19 now."
The blood center was forced to cancel 15 blood drives during this cold spell, resulting in the loss of about 400 units of blood.
