CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 71-year-old bicyclist sustained serious injuries Monday morning when he was struck by a vehicle while traveling east on Holly Road towards South Flynn by a motorist traveling in the same direction.
Corpus Christi police say the accident occurred at 7:26 a.m. in the 4300 block of Holly.
The 48-year-old driver of the vehicle told police he was blinded by the sun, causing him to merge into the bicyclist's path.
The bicyclist was taken to an area hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was cited for an unsafe lane change.
