CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An arrest report reveals what a suspect, accused of stabbing and killing a woman, told officers when they knocked on his door.
Corpus Christi police were called out to the Weber Square Apartments just before 7:30 p.m. Friday. According to an arrest report, officers said Rodrigo Garza Jr., 40, stated, "I killed my girlfriend." Police detained the suspect and found the body of a 33-year-old woman on a mattress.
Officers reported the victim didn't appear to be breathing and had appeared to have died earlier before police arrived.
Rodrigo Garza Jr. was arrested at the scene and charged with murder.
The victim was later identified as Sarah Martinez, 33, by the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office Monday afternoon.
