INGLESIDE, Texas — A suspect who attempted to rob both a business and home in Ingleside was shot by police this morning.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. at the Bayside Market on Inglewood Drive.
The San Patricio County Deputies and Ingleside Police responded to the scene.
When they arrived, the 22-year-old male suspect had been banging on the back door of a local home.
"They confronted the guy at the back end of the alley,” San Patricio Sheriff Oscar Rivera said. “He had a weapon with him. They asked him to get down on the ground and drop the weapon, he didn't, so both officers fired at the suspect."
The suspect was provided medical care at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital.
He is now recovering from a surgery.
Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation and have not yet released charges.
