CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Fallon Wood, the woman behind a crime victim's memorial garden on Ocean Drive, has finally had her prayers answered.

Two angel statues at the Nueces County Crime Victims' Memorial will not be taken down.

We first told you in September about Wood's fight with the city’s Parks and Recreation Department who told her the statues had to be removed.

Wood says the director of Parks and Rec never gave her a clear answer why they had to be removed.

Finally, she was given 30 days to certify the statues were structurally sound.

She got that certification from an engineer yesterday.

Wood says city leaders never showed interest in her memorial.

“Probably none of them have even been out here, you know,” Wood said. “They probably didn't even know what it looks like, they probably didn't even know, you know, what's on these markers?

“They're angels that lived here in your community that were all murdered and nobody from city council, parks and recreations...nobody showed.”

Wood's daughter is one of the murder victims whose name is on the memorial.
