The walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, at Bayfront Park.

Check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the opening ceremonies at 8:30 a.m. and the walk beginning at 9 a.m.

The goal for this year’s walk is to raise $300,000.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, with more than 1 million participants supporting the noncompetitive mile walks each year.

Dollars raised help the American Cancer Society fund innovative breast cancer research, provide education to reduce cancer risk and offer comprehensive patient support.

This 5K walk is an inspiring event that honors breast cancer warriors, both past and present, and gives the community a chance to demonstrate that nobody walks alone.

Making Strides of Corpus Christi will recognize all breast cancer survivors in the Coastal Bend from 6-9 p.m. today at center court at La Palmera Mall.

There will be a special gift from the American Cancer Society and La Palmera Mall for survivors who sign up to participate in the Making Strides walk. Also, the Portraits of Hope survivors will be on-stage sharing their stories.

From 6-8 p.m. Kendra Scott will be giving back to benefit Making Strides. Twenty percent of all purchases made during the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society. You can even call in your purchase, from pendant necklaces and drop earrings to pink nail polish.

There will also be opportunities to buy a $10 raffle ticket to win a 2019 pink Camaro. The drawing will take place Nov. 1 at 5 p.m. on KRIS-TV.
