CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The American Bank location on Shoreline was stuffed full of stuffed bears today.
Hundreds of these teddy bears were collected during the bank's annual drive to help out local children's agencies.
A record amount of teddy bears were donated this year. And in turn, they'll be donated to the Purple Door Women's Shelter and County Court at Law Number 5.
That's the local court that handles child abuse and child neglect cases.
“We definitely see the benefit of having something to kind of be comforting,” said Kellie Anderson, the Purple Door’s deputy director. “Whether they come into the shelter and this is the first item maybe they've ever owned that's something new that they can have that belongs just to them.”
This is the 26th year now that American Bank has held the bear drive.
More than 20,000 stuffed animals have been collected.
