Over at the American Bank Center, the staff is outlining a plan for whenever the building reopens.

Like many other businesses, the arena has suffered a major hit due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Its staff says now they are looking at ways on how the center can rebound.

“It’s just a lot of unknowns at this time and we're doing the best we can during this shutdown to run as efficiently as possible,” American Bank Center general manager Matt Blasy said.

Since March, it’s been quiet at the facility.

Blasy says the center is event driven, but now all shows and gatherings have been pushed back or canceled, causing a toll financially.

“Our fiscal year runs through September, and we're pretty much shut down for the most part,” Blasy said. “For that it's going to have a tremendous hit this year.”

Now, the mission is rolling out a new game plan.

“Our approach right now is when we do reopen for business, what have we done from managing a facility to improve it with cost in mind,” he said.

The center will most likely reopen in August, or closer to the fall, Blasy said.

Then, the center will most likely reopen in August or closer to the fall. Back up and running but with small- scale events.

“We're going to do what we can to make sure that everybody who comes to the American Bank Center can come back in a reasonable manner, but also safety and health is the number one priority,” Blasy said.

And staff says for awhile, the ongoing health crisis is going to have a tremendous impact on large crowds at the center.

The last major event that was held at the ABC was the Chris Stapleton concert on March 11.
