JIM WELLS COUNTY, TEXAS — Investigators with the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office said they discovered almost two million dollars following a traffic stop.
The incident happened Monday, August 17, 2020, on U.S. Hwy 281 in Brooks County.
The Jim Wells County interdiction team and Brooks County deputies said both agencies were working a joint operation and conducted a traffic stop near the Falfurrias Border Patrol checkpoint.
Investigators said a narcotics K-9 alerted them and they found an after-market compartment built within the vehicle. Deputies said they found $1,754.445 in the compartment.
Federal investigators were alerted after a large amount of U.S. currency was found.
