Alice shooting suspect Victor Trevino Jr. is facing more charges.

Ernesto Salinas died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, said Jim Wells Co. Sheriff's Sgt. Gilbert Saenz, adding a count of murder to the existing charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Trevino turned himself in and was arrested by sheriff's department officials earlier in the day. A warrant was issued for his arrest Tuesday.

The 46-year-old currently is in the Jim Wells Co. Jail, suspected of shooting Salinas in the head in Alice on Monday night after a fight.

Salinas was transported to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline via HALO Flight after the shooting, where he died Wednesday afternoon.
