After hour kid power program

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — The Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department wants to inform you of an aftercare program called after hour kid power formerly known as latchkey. The program will provide students with some form of recreation and a safe place for students to do their homework.

The After Hour Kid Power program has a new sign up process and the after school program begins September 8, 2020. The program is Monday through Friday from 3 pm-6 pm.

Parents will be able to sign up online today. However, it will not mean their child secures a spot int the program. When signing up online parents are showing that they are interested in signing up their kid for the program and for the sit that they are selecting.

“Staff will be calling the individuals who have indicated an interest. And based on a first come first serve and it’s going to be time stamped. Then they are uh going to be given further instructions on how to register, officially register their child for the program,” said Parks and Recreation spokesperson, Lisa Oliver.

“So being able to continue this program modified for the safety of the students, staff and the community is a service that we are glad to be able to continue to provide,” said, Oliver

As far as how many students will be admitted depends on the site and based on the location. They will be checking the temperature at the door, wearing masks, and following the social distancing guidelines.

If you are interested in the program it is a first come first server basis. Sign up begins today at 9 am and closes August 21st at 6 pm. To sign up for the program you can head to their website at www.ccparkandrec.com
