Texas Governor, Greg Abbott has declared May 3 - 9 as Hurricane Preparedness Week for the state of Texas.

"As hurricane season approaches, it is vital that Texans take the time to prepare for any devastating and powerful storms that may reach our shores," said the Governor.

Abbott expressed the importance of hurricane preparedness.

"There are no substitutes for having emergency supplies and a well-prepared emergency plan to protect yourself, your family, and your property," said Abbott. "As we enter this hurricane season, I encourage all Texans to remain mindful of the dangers presented by hurricanes, stay informed about potential threats, and take steps toward preparedness."
