Detectives with the Corpus Christi Police Department are investigating a shooting that left a 28-year-old man dead.

The shooting happened just before 10:15 p.m. Saturday next to a popular restaurant on North Beach.

According to Gena Pena, a Senior Officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department, a man was found discovered with gunshot wounds on North Beach. He was transported to a hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

At the crime scene, Officer Pena said three men were detained, but added they are still investigating what led up to the shooting.

“We are still trying to find out what occurred, and we have investigators doing their due diligence to make sure they are speaking to all witnesses out here,” Pena said.

Investigators added at the incident is an active investigation and were limited on releasing additional details since they are investigating the city’s latest homicide case.

Almost 24 hours ago, police were called out to a shooting that left two people injured and left one man dead following a shooting at a Westside convenience store.
