A traffic accident yesterday outside of Freer killed one man and sent two others to the hospital.

According to Texas Highway Patrol Sgt. Nathan Brandley, 42-year-old Cesar Israel Trevino of Laredo died in a three vehicle accident that occurred just before 7 p.m. Thursday  on U.S. Highway 59, about 8.5 miles southwest of Freer.

Brandley says preliminary investigation of the crash shows that a tractor trailer stopped for a flagman in a construction zone. Trevino, driving a Ford Explorer, was stopped behind the tractor trailer.

Brandley says a third truck came up behind Trevino, hitting the rear of his vehicle.

Trevino was pronounced dead at the scene, Brandley said.

The drivers of the other to vehicles were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Brandley says DPS Troopers continue to investigate the accident.
