Community vigil planned for Je’Sani Smith

The family of a Corpus Christi teenager and a student at King High School is planning a community vigil.

The King High School Senior was swimming with friends at Whitecap beach last Thursday when he disappeared in the surf.

Smith’s body was found south of Bob Hall Pier Sunday afternoon. The teen’s body washed up close to a large cross that was posted in the sand dunes five miles south of Bob Hall Pier.

Terry Denson, the father of Je’Sani Smith, is planning a community vigil Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

In a message posted on social media,  Denson states, “I just want to thank everyone for their prayers and their kinds words and their support. I noticed each day has gotten tougher and tougher but with the support of this great community, it truly does ease the pain.”

Smith continued that every in the community is invited to come.
