Update: Terry Denson announced on Facebook that Mr. Will Cox, who owns the Big Scat Catboat in Port Aransas, has offered his services to help in the search tomorrow.

The father of a teenage boy who went missing Thursday afternoon at Whitecap Beach is reaching out for help on social media.

Terry Denson, the father of Je Sani Smith, a senior at King High School, is asking help from the community in the search efforts to find his son.

Smith’s disappearance occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday when two teens lost sight of one of their friends while all were swimming off Whitecap Beach.

The two were able to make it back to shore safely. Then, rescue operations began for the missing young man.

Denson’s post states, “I am asking anyone with a boat that’s willing to volunteer and help in the search for my son please let me know I have talked to the lieutenant commander of the search that’s being conducted for my son’s body and he said if I had friends with (boats) that was willing to help out that that would be great for everyone so I’m asking anyone that has a boat can y’ all please help my son please share this please get the word out.”

Coast Guard members said they are still searching for the teen with their vessels along with helicopter support.
