One of the biggest yearly events in the Coastal Bend needs volunteers immediately.  Fiesta de la Flor, the Corpus Christi festival that celebrates the life and legacy of native Selena Quintanilla is less than two weeks away.  The Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting training sessions today, tomorrow and Saturday.

The two-day music festival is Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 at North Bayfront Park.  The event brings thousands to the Coastal Bend and boasts a huge economic boost for the local economy with hotels typically selling out that weekend.

Volunteer slots are for merchandising.  The CCCVB is promising free, special entry to the event after your shift.  If you sign up for a shift that begins in the afternoon or evening, the CCCVB says to just check in early to receive your credential to enjoy the festival. Bonus:  get a Fiesta de la Flor volunteer t-shirt to wear while you work and keep as a souvenir!

The training sessions are only 30 minutes and are being held at Heritage Park, 1513 N. Chaparral St. You only need to attend one session and you can choose any of the times listed below:

  • Wednesday, April 3, (5:00 pm, 5:30 pm, 6:00 pm, 6:30 pm, 7:00 pm)
