The health benefits of getting children outdoors will be the focus of this month’s Coastal Issue Forum.
The monthly event, hosted by the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation, will feature Jennifer Bristol, Dr. Faye Bruun, and Dr. Mary Huckabee to speak about The Public Health Benefits of Children in Nature at 7 p.m. on April 8, at the Del Mar Center for Economic Development.
Jennifer Bristol, coordinator for Texas Children in Nature, will give an overview of all that Texas Children in Nature can offer – consisting of over 500 organizations committed to connecting children and families to nature.
Dr. Faye Bruun, Associate Professor in TAMUCC’s Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Learning Sciences, will discuss the positive effects of children spending time in nature on their cognitive abilities.
Dr. Mary Huckabee, a Pediatric Hospitalist of Driscoll Hospital, will discuss the positive effects on Public Health when children are in nature.
