Fast-food workers were busy Monday as they are getting ready to open Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers.

The new fast-casual restaurant will be opened officially at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The restaurant is located in the 4000 block of South Padre Island Drive near Weber Road.

Freddy’s is known for its cooked-to-order steakburgers made with lean 100 percent ground beef. They also offer Vienna beef hot dogs, crispy shoestring fries.

James Oberg, the franchise owner, said, “Every burger is cooked to order. We start with lean 100 percent ground beef, sprinkle on our famous seasoning, press the patty thin and sear on a flat-top grill until the edges are deliciously crispy. We regularly recommend the Original Double, which comes standard with two patties, two slices of cheese, mustard, onion slices, and pickle planks.”

The fast-casual restaurant is also known for its frozen custard treats that are made with freshly churned chocolate or vanilla frozen custard.

The 3,464 square-foot, freestanding restaurant seats 96 guests and has additional seating on the patio.

Drive-thru service is also available. Hours of operation are 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
