Saturday in the Coastal Bend

BBQ COOK-OFF & CONCERT

The 2nd annual My Country 107.3 BBQ Cook-Off & Concert is sponsored by Mike Shaw this year at Concrete Street. The festival will include food trucks, beer, vendors, and live music with  Rick Trevino & Jarrod Birmingham.

The over $5,000 in prize money and trophies will go the International Barbeque Cookers Association sanctioned cook-off winners in the following categories:

  • Ribs
  • Brisket
  • Chicken
  • Beans
  • This year’s new Chef’s Choice award

The festival will go on till about 11 pm and will feature over 50 vendors, food trucks, children’s play area, goat roping, and much more.

This festival is free and open to the public.

It’s Your Life Foundation Glow Run for Fun & Walk – 2019

Get out your running shoes, the It’s Your Life Foundation & Mayor’s Fitness Council are pleased to host the Biggest Glo Run/Walk of 2019.

The awesome evening run starts at Waters Edge Park today at 7:30 pm with check-in and registration at 6 pm.

Students under 17 don’t have a registration fee. 18 and up can register early at Fleet Feet and it will only cost $30 as opposed to $40 dollars for same day registration.

According to their event pages, “TOP 3 schools with the highest participation WILL receive trophies and monetary awards! Remaining 7 schools with high participation receive monetary funds. So don’t forget to input your school when registering online. ”

HOWDY DAZE at West Guth Park

If you are looking for some free family fun this weekend, look no further.

The Coastal Community And Teachers Credit Union is putting on a super fun festival at West Guth park this Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm.

Howdy Daze attendees can look forward to a Petting Zoo, Dino’s Alive, Blow Up Obstacle Course, and of course food.

TROOP SUPPORT CRAWFISH BOIL

Honor our American Heroes and enjoy some great food, drinks and family fun at the Crawfish Boil & Military Tribute at 1651 Flour Bluff Drive.

At $20 you can get a delicious crawfish plate with all the fixins, and for $40 you can get two Crawfish plates; one for you and a veteran.

All proceeds from this family event go to the cost of sending monthly care packages to our active military stationed overseas.

Don’t worry, if Crawfish isn’t your jam, there will be alternatives.

NUECES COUNTY LOW-COST RABIES VACCINATION CLINICS

The importance of vaccinating your family pets is huge.

That’s why the Nueces County Animal Control is sponsoring area wide, low cost, vaccination clinics in  Agua Dulce and Banquete, Texas this Saturday.

The fee will be super low at only $8 and Dr. Steve Lee is the Veterinarian in charge.

In Agua Dulce it will be held at the Agua Dulce Senior Center on 1513 Second Street – Hwy 44, from 9 am to noon.

In Banquete it will be held at the Banquete Senior Citizen’s Center on 4359 Fourth St. behind Pena’s Grocery, from 1 pm to 4pm.
