One man is dead following an accident between a motorcycle and tractor trailer near Mathis yesterday.
According to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Sgt. Nathan Brandley, 49-year-old Haskel Wayne Rouse, of Mathis, was killed when his Harley Davidson motorcycle hit the trailer of a Cub Cadet Truck tractor semi-trailer at FM 888 and Interstate 37 just after 8 p.m. on Monday.
Brandley says the truck was traveling North through the intersection on the I-37 frontage road, when Rouse, who was riding East on FM 888 was unable to stop and hit the bottom dump section of the tractor trailer.
Rouse was pronounced dead at the scene, Brandley said.
The truck’s driver was uninjured.
