Alice power-lifting girls take home first State Championship ever

The Lady Coyotes power-lifting squad dominated the competition at Class 5A Texas Texas High School Woman’s Powerlifting Association championships.

Coached by Lisa Cisneros, the team of five lifters managed to pull off three individual state championships this Saturday in Waco; which is second most of any other school participating in THSWPA meets. They are eclipsed only by Los Fresnos with four.

Here are theindividual results reported by the Alice Echo:

97-pound weight class — First Place, Alexis Herrera, Alice, 310 squat, 140 bench, 250 deadlift, 700 total.

105-pound weight class — First Place, Mia Macias, Alice, 300 squat, 130 bench, 245 squat, 675 total.
