The details on this year’s annual Cesar Chavez March were announced during the Count Commissioners’ meeting.

A proclamation by Commissioners declared March 21st through March 30th as Cesar Chavez Week.

Chavez was one of the founders of “The United Farm Workers Union” and was also known for his fight for civil rights.

Organizers say they’re excited about this year’s march.

“Because this is a celebration of Mexican American history, it’s a celebration of civil rights, it’s a celebration of the laborers who have helped build this country and especially this community,” said Nancy Vera with the Coastal Bend Labor Council.

The march is set for March 30 at 1 p.m.  It will start at the corner of Port and Agnes and proceed down Agnes to the Garcia Arts Center.
