A man who was shot while unlocking the door to his apartment should recover, police say.
Corpus Christi Police officers responded to the Whispering Winds Apartments on the 1400 block of West Point Road just after 3 a.m. to find a man with a gunshot wound to his lower back.
The victim told police he was unlocking the door to his second floor apartment when he was shot, police said. He was taken to the hospital and should recover.
Officers say witnesses reported hearing three shots but did not see the person responsible or the vehicle they were in.
Officers believe the man may have been targeted, but gave no other information.
